Himalayan Acres Foxtail Palm Planting

As part of Guruthondu day, Arumuganathaswami, Siddhanathaswami, Natyam Nandinatha and Sadaka Mayuranatha took 400 foxtail palm trees to Himalayan Acres for planting in a field which had been harrowed clean. It turned out to be harder work than expected as the loosened dirt wasn't deep enough for the pots and we had to dig each deeper by hand. But we still got 80% of the planting completed--you can see a few of the small trees in the foreground center of the photo. In three or four years these will be handsome trees!

Guruthondun Day

Today is the monastary's first Guruthondun Day, when all the monks team up on one project. This time They are planting and potting hundreds of trees for Himalayan Acres and Wailua River Nursery, where the monastery grows hardwoods and a variety tropical plants.

Archives are now available through 2001. Light colored days have no posts. 1998-2001 coming later.
