A reflection on this year's Mahasamadhi

A Poem Scribed by a Devotee

Aftermath

The roar is silent now
Footsteps gone
From flights unknown
They all did come

They came for love
A tiny crumb
A remembered word
Yes, for Camelot they all did come

When breezes fair were in your hair
Your eyes the Sea,
your smile the Sun
A tiny glance our daily grace
Yes,  for Camelot we all did come . . .

The Sun would rise just right each day
The moon would wash our cares away
Like bees we swarmed your nectared hair
Yes, for Camelot we lived each day.

When the curtain closed
And the light went outIn dark,
damp corners we worked it out
Once a year, with stars on high
We call to you ... dear Camelot.

Malaysia sishyas first visit to Kauai

Saiva Siddhanta Church sishyas Sivanathan and Puvana with young children Hitesvar and Rishitaa are on pilgrimage to Kauai for the first time. The family arrived just in time to attend most of the four days of the Gurudeva Mahasamadhi observances. Today we visited various offices to see where the monks serve, and toured more of the grounds.

November 11th Homa and Diksha

The Aadheenam began its day with an early morning homa, which included a formal diksha for a pilgrimaging devotee. After years of study and preparation, Sivanathan Batumalai, here with his family from Malaysia, received his vishesha diksha, which is the second of two dikshas that all Saiva Siddhanta Church sishyas prepare to receive. He has now completed his full entrance into Sri Subramuniya Gotra and is known as Chela sishya.

Skanda Shashthi

Yesterday the monastery observed the final day of Skanda Shashthi, a six-day festival honoring Lord Muruga's conquest of light over darkness. While invoking His protection and grace, the festival also honors His receiving the vel, His lance of spiritual illumination, jnana sakti, and culminates in a dramatic victory celebration of spiritual light over asuric darkness. The final abhishekam was pure and powerful, invoking the blessings of this great God of willpower, direct cognition and divine love.

Aum Saravanabhava.

Kaduval's Growing Garden

The recently planted garden outside of Kaduval temple is blooming. The once barren area under the trimmed banyon tree is now filled with colorful dalias, roses and hibiscus.

Our Kauaian Sky

Although rainbows are a common sight here on our little island, especially in the early morning, it is rare to see one created by the setting sun. This double rainbow was such a rarity, highlighted by the light from the evening's orange sunset.

Archives are now available through 2001. Light colored days have no posts. 1998-2001 coming later.
