Metal Building Progress

The electricians team from California finished installing lighting and fans. Another team of monks and employee Doug installed insulation in the walls of all downstairs storage rooms, and another hired team has just installed sheet rock on all those walls.

Sadhana: Path of Change

Aum Namah Sivaya

Today our monks begin their new lunar phase. Over the retreat, our traveling swamis, Sadasivanathaswami and Tillainathswami, returned from their 20-day adventure to Singapore, Malaysia and Mauritius. On the same day, Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami and Sannyasin Shanmuganathaswami departed on their trip, of similar length, to the US mainland and Canada. This morning the mathavasis and local members observed the usual 6:00am weekly Siva puja together. With Satguru having just left, this recorded talk was played in Kadavul Temple instead of his usual upadesa. Enjoy!

Mauritius Visit 2023– Ladies Satsang

On the final day in Mauritius, a special class was held for the women. It happened in a garden kutir, a kind of yoga hut. Stories ensued, songs and poems and lots of sharing. Tillainthaswami held a 40-minute preparation for meditation class and questions and answers were encouraged. Paramacharya was deeply impressed with the ability of the women to hold a laser focus during the entire meditation, not one among them swerving from the task at hand. It was proof of the power of years of sadhana to bring the mind under the dominion of the will. The men were such good sports, waiting nearby. At the end group photos and a surprise Farewell Party, complete with a Creole singer and drummer going from table to table and the joyous clapping and general merry-making of happy souls on the spiritual path. A perfect conclusion to a perfect week.

Mauritius Visit 2023– Sevaka Appreciation

They are amazing, giving long hours each week and month to manage the homa (attended by 4-5,000 each month on the first Sunday), hold Saiva Siddhanta classes, host Zoom teaching sessions, make garlands, guide visitors, maintain and enhance the landscape, and more.

Paramacharya gave each one a "ponnadai." The ponnadai is a ceremonial shawl that is draped over someone to honor or appreciate them for their achievements or contributions. It is often presented at weddings, religious ceremonies, and public events to show respect and admiration. They certainly deserve this honoring. Thank you, one and all. You made our week, our month, our year.

Iraivan Temple Silpis Install Final Chains

Some days ago, our silpis installed hanging stone chains in the four corners of the Iraivan Temple mahamandapam roof. This constituted the final pieces of the temple to be assembled. Worthy of celebration! The silpis will return to India at year's end.

Ganesha Chaturthi Puja 2023

As it has around the world, the annual day arrived to celebrate Lord Ganesha's sweetness with pomp in Kadavul Temple.

Because our puja was early, at 6am, Iraivan Temple's priest Pravin Kumar was able to attend and also offer some chants and songs at toward the end. He wanted a few photos of himself to share with family, so you'll see those in this collection.

Mauritius Visit 2023–Path to Siva Seminar

Satguru Bodhinatha's condensed catechism on Saiva Siddhanta, called Path to Siva, has become the major study introducing Mauritians to the teachings of Saiva Siddhanta Church, and it was natural there would be a session on its contents. The swamis had prepared resources, including a short video of Gurudeva speaking of the path, so those who never met him could look into his eyes and listen to that resonant deep voice.

The mandapam was nearly filled. A famed veena player and his team offered music as all got settled and again at the end during vibuthi darshan time. There was an important Q&A time that allowed those studying the booik to have their various uncertainties addressed. It was an inspiring 90 minutes for all.

Mauritius– Off to the Mahebourg Temple

A major event was held at the historic Shakti temple in the South, complete with beautiful chants at the Sivalingam pavilion, darshan of Ganesha and Muruga.

The Mahebourg Temple is a vibrant Hindu temple, known for intricate carvings, colorful ceremonies, and a peaceful spiritual atmosphere. It has been here since 1804.

A large group came to hear the two swamis speak. Anazingly, the leadership here is close to the Nandinatha Sampradaya and to this day has vivid dreams and visions of Gurudeva. They spoke knowledgeably about Challappaswami and Yogaswami.

A special dinner followed, the famed "Seven Curries" of the nation. Difficult to make as it is super complex, it was done by a smalll army of ladies who serve at the temple.

Mauritius– MiniMela Staff Meeting

The dedicated team that manages the MiniMela was honored in simple ways, thanked for doing all that they do to get Gurudeva's books and techings into the hands of pilgrims to the Spiritual Park. They wanted to share so many ideas for improvements on into the future.
