The Golden Gate Mission's August Satsang was hosted at the home of Janaka and Bhavani Param.

Basanti Mardemootoo from Mauritius is currently visiting her grandparents on Kauai, so she took the opportunity to become a Vidyasishya of Saiva Siddhanta Church during our early morning Siva homa in Kadavul Temple. She voiced the Yama-Niyama Pledge and Ten-Minute Sadhana Vigil Pledge from the Vidyasishya document. The practices given in these two pledges help provide a balanced life throughout the schooling years, especially when away from home in university.

Each month, members and students in Southern California gather for satsang in one of their homes. Here are photos from San Diego at the Mahadevan's home

After seven years of study, preparation, proving themselves to their guru by living the teachings in all aspects of their lives, Mrunal and Padmaja Patel received their mantra diksha on November 1st, which means receiving spiritual initiation from Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami to chant Aum Namah Sivaya 108 times daily on rudraksha japa mala. Prior to this, they were chanting Aum Saravanabhava. It is the first of two dikshas that all sishyas in Saiva Siddhanta Church prepare to receive. They are now known as dikshasishyas.

Also, Mrunal's mother Hansa Patel took her four vows—with assistance from Padmaja and Jigisha, Mrunal's sister, also a Himalayan Academy student—entering Saiva Siddhanta Church as a vratasishya. Congratulations, Dadiji!

Satguru Bodhinatha gave a first seminar (out of three) to our local Saiva Siddhanta Church sishyas, presenting the same material as what SSC sishyas are receiving in other locations through the year. This time he shared about the slideshow movies he's been producing, and about sadhana vigils.
