Nearly 9,000 were killed and another 23,000 injured in the massive quake an subsequent aftershocks. Hinduism Today in the Czech language

Today we received news from a group in the Czech republic, sharing that they have translated several editions of the magazine into their language and put them online. How wonderful, since there are more than 11 million native speakers. Now they have access to the larger Hindu community worldwide.

Congratulations to the team who did this amazing work!

If you know anyone who speaks Czech, you can invite them to explore the magazine here: http://www.hinduismtoday.cz/

Ganesha's Aum

Today, Ganesha provided us with a lovely sandalwood Aum. As you all may know, Hinduism Today Magazine has an Aum at the top-left of each issue's cover image. For this coming July 2015 issue, we've decided to use Ganesha's as that image. Thank you for the artwork Lord Ganesha!

HT Article on Historic World Hindu Congress

In the Hinduism Today April/May/June issue just sent around the globe we tell the story of an amazing event held in New Delhi November 21-13. The event was notable for being an elite gathering of world leaders who self-identify as Hindus, and in public no less. If that sounds odd, just remember that Hindus in business, politics, media, education and social work have historically kept their faith quiet, for there is a powerful and persistent restraint on the religion in Indian higher circles. But now, with the election of Prime Minister Modi, India is headed by a self-proclaimed, devout Hindu for the first time in 806 years!

The article by Francois Gautier chronicles the three day event, introduces the players and speaks to the future.

Rajasthan Cow Festival 2014

As our Hinduism Today subscribers are busy reading their recently arrived April 2015 issue, we'd like to offer you a look at some of the extra photos from the feature story. Some of these you'll recognize and others will be entirely new.

Last October our editor, Paramacharya Sadasivanathaswami, received an urgent call from Swami Gopal Sharan Devacharya (Hinduism Today's Hindu of the Year, 2009) to join him and dozens of other swamis for the culmination of a nine-day festival honoring cows at the Shree Pathmeda Godham Mahatirth in Rehsil, Rajasthan, and the nearby Manorama Goloktirth in Nandgaon. The extraordinary event revealed the persistent reverence the Hindu community has for the cow, and highlighted efforts to protect the species and to craft a compassionate place for the holy bovine in a threatening modern world. Niraj and Jing Baxi visit the Pillaiyar Kulam

Shanmuganathaswami (right) and Kaivalyanathaswami welcomed the Baxis to the Pillaiyar Kulam recently. Niraj had some very good ideas for promoting Hinduism Today, which he feels is still far too little known. This was helpful as we also keep searching for avenues to let more Hindus and like-minded souls know of the magazine's existence. As one lifetime subscriber put it: "You never know when a holy word will find its way to someone's heart."

Archives are now available through 2001. Light colored days have no posts. 1998-2001 coming later.
