More From 2017 Mahasamadhi Observances

Jai Gurudeva!!!

Our 2017 Mahasamadhi celebrations continued with an afternoon parade on the second day. This parade took a pair of tiruvadi and Gurudeva's image out to Iraivan Temple's Inner sanctum and back. Stopping along the way at Umbrella Ganesha, the flagpole, and followed by worship at Dakshinamurti.

The next two days would begin with our morning padapujas performed by the monks, and included classes with Sadasivanathaswami and with Satguru. Satguru discussed many topics including an elaboration on Lord Murugan and some explanation of Skanda Shashti.
On the final afternoon, we began with a homa conducted by Kumar Gurukkal who flew in for the event. The homa included several powerful Vedic rituals and culminated with Satguru carrying the Kumbha outside around the flagpole and back into the temple to be poured over Gurudeva's tiruvadi for the final abhishakam.

Honoring Iraivan Temple's Carvers

We have been having a creative time with our Quad Copter. Please enjoy these new aerial shots of our recently installed Temple Carvers Pavilion next to Iraivan Temple. At around 2:20 the camera looks across the river to our Himalayan Acres fields, where you will see our fields of 8-foot-tall Koa trees in the foreground and behind that a large grassy field which has a few hundred coconut trees. Today We Worship Our Gurudeva

Devotees around the world are honoring Gurudeva today. It has been 5,738 days since his Great Departure, and today was our 209th monthly honoring of that day. A devotee sent an amazing and apt video of Nallur Temple festival in Sri Lanka.

The interesting thing is that the sound track is Yogaswami's Natchintanai talking about Nallur, where he met his guru, Chellappaswami. The power of the paramparai can be seen in this short video, a power enhanced by the fact that Chellappaswami lived in the chariot house on the temple grounds for years.

It was here, too, that he shook the bars and demanded from Yogaswami, "Who do you think you are?" That question was the seed of all that Kauai's Hindu Monastery is today.

Remember, we are going to Nallur Temple in Jaffna in February, 66 of us. Jai Nandinatha Sampradaya!

Installed Bronzes

Here are a few more photos that give a nice perspective of the recently installed bronzes

June Chitra Puja

This morning we celebrated our monthly padapuja to Gurudeva in Kadavul Temple. As the sun was rising, monks and local devotees gathered around Gurudeva's shrine and observed an abhishekam to his black granite tiruvadi. Natyam Jayanatha and Nirvani Tejadevanatha performed the abhishekam as other monks chanted Sri Rudram and delved within. Jai Gurudeva!
