Latest Upadesha: Path To Siva – The Life of Saivites

Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami

Bodhinatha’s Latest Upadeshas – What is the Nature of Life for Saivites?
” Path to Siva, Lesson 19 – Every Day Is a Day of Worship” (March 6,2017)

“Stand Strong for Saivism.” The nature of life for Saivites is to turn work into worship, to turn the secular into the sacred. Each day give a little extra warmth, humanness and upliftment to others. Every day is a holy day, all day long. We want to follow our religion even in our dreams. If we help someone, we’re worshiping. Wherever we are, that’s a place of worship. “To the Saivite Hindu all of life is sacred. All of life is religion.”

Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami

Bodhinatha’s Latest Upadeshas – Mahasivaratri Upadesha, 2017
” Mahasivaratri, 2017 – The Four Stages of Your Personal Evolution.” (February 24, 2017)

The soul body takes many lifetimes to mature. The height of divine consciousness: There is no difference between you and God. Spiritualize what you are doing as you engage in the world. Unwind the karmas of the past. The stages in Saiva Siddhanta: Charya, kriya, yoga-meditation and jnana. In jnana you and Truth are one. Go deeply enough in meditation to identify with That which is eternal, always existed, never changed: Siva, Satchidananda, Pure Consciousness, Absolute Reality. Ask yourself: “What is the void or the nothingness which is the source of this consciousness?” Then you’re getting close, getting close.

Our Affirmation of Faith – All-Pervasive Love, Absolute Reality

Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami

Bodhinatha’s Latest Upadeshas, Commentary on the Path to Siva, Lesson 18:
” Our Affirmation of Faith – All-Pervasive Love, Absolute Reality” (February 27,2017)

“God Siva is Immanent Love and Transcendent Reality.” Devotion is present in each of Saiva Siddhanta’s four paths in our relationship to God. When we begin the soul feels God is really far away. As we get closer and closer as in the lover and Beloved, it means a oneness. You alone exist and you are love. Love alone exists, which is Siva, but which is also you. I am Transcendent Reality and Immanent Love.

Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami

“Saivite Beliefs; Religion is Three Worlds in Communication ” (February 20,2017)

In our teachings we’re both monistic and theistic. In the beliefs of Saivism the idea of the three worlds is the basis and key to understanding temple worship, theism. The inner worlds are there to help you. The essence of the soul is already the same as the essence of God Siva, monism. You just have to find it.

The letter “Ya” in the Panchakshara Mantra, Namasivaya, stands for the soul. Bodhinatha uses the Panchakshara Mantra to show how the soul is initially drawn by Siva’s veiling grace, which leads the soul to maturity through experience in the world. Then comes Siva’s revealing grace. When we’ve had enough of the world, Siva’s grace pulls us toward God. The mantra also has the simple, two-syllable form. Si- Reflecting on God the Transcendent Absolute, Va-God as the All Pervading Consciousness

Siva's Infinite Forms; The Cycle of Desire

Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami

Bodhinatha’s Latest Upadeshas:
“Siva’s Traditional Forms, Pancha Brahman, Cycle of Desire” (January 28,2017)

“Every form is a form of Siva.” The Sivalinga symbolizes Siva’s formless state.
Yantras for Siva temples involve the Panchakshara Mantra. Kadavul represents Si, Siva in a fiery aspect; Iraivan represents Ya, akasha. Reflect on that and see the difference. The five faces of Panchabrahma: Tatpurusha, Aghora, Sadjojata, Vamadeva, Ishana. The Trishula represents three shaktis: iccha, kriya and jnani shaktis. Love, action, wisdom. Iccha is also translated as desire. We cycle through desires, gaining wisdom, moving to higher and higher desires. The highest form of desire is selfless service-karma yoga or seva. Let’s do more of it.
