“After the meditation is over, work to refine every attribute of your nature. Learn to work and work joyfully, for all work is good. Learn to be happy by seeking happiness, not from others but from the depths of the soul itself. In your daily life, observe the play of the forces as they manifest between people and people, and people and their things. Don’t avoid the forces of the world, for the meditator lives fearlessly, shying away from nothing. The ‘out there’ and the within are his playground, his kingdom. He becomes vibrant and confident in himself. He learns to lean on his own spine and not on any other person, teacher, book, organization or system. Answers begin to become real and vibrant, hooked onto the end of every question. His body radiates new grace and strength. His mind, disciplined and uncluttered, becomes one-pointedly agile. His relationships take on new, profound meanings. His emotions are stabilized and reflect his new-found tranquillity. These and many more are the dynamic rewards of the sincere aspirant who searches within through meditation.”

Paramacharya Ceyonswami reports in:

In the evening of Bodhinatha’s first day in Edmonton he was greeted by students of Aran Veylan’s Saiva Dharma class.

Their ages ranged from 6 to 14.

Even the 6-year-old asked some very intelligent and thoughtful questions, such as “If Siva created everything, then didn’t he create my karmas too?”

Tour day brought about 50 bright colorful souls.

The temple, the setting, the tour guide and the literature they take home… make for a rich and sometimes life-changing experience for these visitors.

James and Aldona Watts are on vacation in Hawaii with their son Julian and daughter, who is also named, Aldona. They are from San Francisco. They saw the listing for the monastery in the Kauai Guide Book, and after coming, said it was the highlight of their trip.

The younger Aldona is a Junior in high school and the editor of her school newspaper. We brought the family in to meet the publications and give Aldona a look at a professional operation. They were really impressed. Alsona asked the always critical question “How do you meet your deadlines?” Here the get an introduction to our internet operations with Sivakatirswami and were amazed at how we put together this TAKA page every day.

Current Overview

We bring you the second segment of our “Raising the Lion Pillar’s ” photo documentary….

These pillars are very heavy. Once set down, out silpis would not be able to budge them with their bars, even a quarter of an inch… So, with the crane taking the weight, very carefully they are put into place.

The lion with the ball in his mouth, still packed to prevent if from rolling around.

Now, the crane drops the pillar down to make contact, still holding much of the weight. The silpis make more adjustments in its position

“Turn it, just a little more…”

With the pillar set the packing around the stone ball inside the lion’s month is removed. It was a bit of a wonderment for the young people on the tour today. “How did they get that stone inside his mouth?”

Now, the second pillar goes in.

They look magnificent.

With the pillars set, attention turned to lifting more stones up to the top of the vimanam.

Our Siddhidata Kulam has an ingenious tent system at the top of the temple that can be opened up.

Good weather helps make the operation go smoothly.

The stones put up today are part of the final courses before the capstone.

You can get glimpse of the upper courses here through the scaffolding.

One more to go…

OK, done, and well done. It was a long morning, moving carefully and slowly. Larry takes down his crane for the day.

The new pillars take us back all the way to Tamil Nadu in our hearts and minds.

A late morning shower wets the stones which helps to show of their exquisite carving.

The lion’s eyes are protected from the shower and give him a two-tone look

What a great team we have! And, we send out our thanks to all the temple builders around the world who have given so generously, bringing Iraivan from the inner worlds, out to the earth plane…
