It’s tritiya tithi, Sun Three, Ashram Sadhana day and all the monks are cleaning, fixing, getting things in order.

“Cleaning the house is an act of purifying one’s immediate environment. Each piece of furniture, as well as the doorways and the walls, catches and holds the emanations of the human aura of each individual in the home, as well as each of its visitors. This residue must be wiped away through dusting and cleaning. This regular attentiveness keeps each room sparkling clean and actinic. Unless this is done, the rooms of the home become overpowering to the consciousness of the individuals who live within them as their auras pick up the old accumulated feelings of days gone by. Small wonder that a dirty room can depress you, and one freshly cleaned can invigorate.”

Brahmacharini Barathy Sockanathan took lifetime vows of Brahmacharya during innersearch. It was a courageous decision to dedicate the rest of her life to purity, service and Self-Realization. Barathy is a school teacher — lucky children to have such a spiritual soul to teach them!

Barathy has also been doing great service through the years helping with the distribution of Hinduism Today and other Sivathondu in Malaysia.

Bodhinatha’s next journey is brief, on the weekend of April 3-4 in the San Francisco Bay Area of northern California. He will visit with Saiva Siddhanta Church members and Himalayan Academy Students.

Paramacharya Ceyonswami, sweeping in our “Java Cafe” where we have tables that the monks can eat at during breakfast and dinner, right next to the food service station outside our kitchen.

Rasi is an older kitty. She was a famous award winning show cat in her youth and when decommissioned from cat show, the owner though the monastery would be a good home. She has all the daintiness of a prima donna and is very mild natured. The loud vacuum running behind her here in the Lambodhara Kulam office doesn’t seem to bother her a bit.

Ah, excuse me, that thing is getting rather close. Just what is your plan for that? Can’t you human beings just relax and take it easy?!

At the Ganapati Kulam we continue to dig into hold archives that have been gathering dust through the years. These are reel-to-reel tapes of Gurudeva’s talks.

After dusting everything off we are setting them out in groups and each one of our team will assign a number to the tape and make a catalog entry.

Later the tapes will be sent out for digitization.

We expect, at the end of this project, to have some 1000-1200 digitized audio files of talks that Gurudeva gave through out his life. This will include talks that were video-taped.

Then the next challenge will be to get all of them transcribed and we are gearing up to engage a lot of sevaks for this job.

Eventually we will be able to search all the transcripts and access much of the audio from our server. Many of these talks will be gradually incorporated into our internet cybertalk library under the new category of “GITA” Gurudeva’s Inspired Talks Archive.”

Wow, look at this.. the original “Beginning to Meditate” recording….
