Gurudeva joyfully returning a book that he has just signed to a new reader.

Kulapati and Kulamata Jiva and Kanmani Rajasankara here at the Chennai finale dinner at the end of Innersearch. The two and their sons have done incredible service to Gurudeva, the Paramapara and all of us. They gave up their former life in Malaysia and at the bidding of their Guru, took on the great responsibility to manage the Iraivan Temple carving site.

This evening they also presented Bodhinatha with two special silver crowns for Lord Ganesha and Lord Murugan of the Kadavul temple in Kauai.

Bodhinatha, all the mathavasis, all the silpis and everyone of us who are part of the Iraivan Temple building family send to Jiva and Kanmani and their sons Senthilathiban and Thuraisingam all our love and gratitude for all that you do!

Sun rising in the east with a light shower to the west… we are blessed once again with Lord Siva’s color show.

It always feels as if the devas have come once again to bless the Iraivan Temple project as these rainbows are naturally situated right over the temple site.

Work proceeds steadily on Iraivan.

We are happy to finally have Selvanathan Sthapati here from India. He is now the lead design and drafting architect for Iraivan, working under Ganapati Sthapati. Today he met with Shanmuga Sthapati, Paramacharya Palaniswami and Sannyasin Yoginathaswami and they went through all many issues they needed to address to make sure the carving of stones in Bangalore proceeds precisely according to plan.

As with any building project, when things actually get underway there may be logistical challenges faced in the implementation of the vision, no matter how carefully things are planned and drawn out. This is an important time for Selvanathan to be here.

Many key areas are discussed such as the fitting of the roof extensions out from the 16th course of the Vimanam, the steps leading into the main sanctum, the flat area for prostration in between the Tara pillars in front of the sanctum, the Nandi mandapam and more.

Selvanathan will spend his mornings in meetings and then afternoons working on drawings which he will take back to India to the work site. This is a lot easier than working these things out on the telephone!

Nearby Temples: Palani Hills, Pillaiyarpatti, Chidambaram,
Swamimalai, Kanchi and others

We continue today with installment Number 6 of Malaysia photos from our days there in January. The chronicle of the main public event continues:

“… Next on the evening agenda of the Kandasamy Kala Mandapam Public Program was a remarkable and superlative video presentation of Iraivan Temple and Gurudeva that had been prepared by the monks at Kauai Aadheenam. They brought a projector with them and showed this at various venues during their travels.

Heartmelting testimony on Iraivan by Kulapathi Deva Rajan and Brahmacharini Gowri Nadeson

Swami Guhabhaktanatha From Divine Life Society listens attentively.

Satguru’s speech….Concise, yet so enlightening

Next the big fun surprise–the book launching. A group of young children carry the lights to the stage.

As they show it up, a basket with multi-hued lights emerges from the heaven with the books…

Satguru takes out and reveals the books, indicating the launch of Dancing with Siva pocket book and Yoga’s Forgotten Foundation. What an ingenious launch by our innovative team of Malaysia presentation specialists!

Amidst the excitement of the evening, , Aravind Raj explains how the public can aid the building of Iraivan Temple, describe the goal of having Malaysians be the sponsors for the magnificent floor stones that are being carved for Iraivan.

Everyone comes forward for Satguru’s Darshan — finale of the event…

None could miss the opportunity to get Satguru’s blessing…Dr. Perambalam taking his turn.

Continuing with “Best of Show” photos from Innersearchers…more “through the eyes of Mark Boyer.”

This is a wonderful shot from the evening of our first day in India. It was the auspicious moment when Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami came to the Iraivan work site. Kulapati Jiva Rajasankara performs the puja.

This very beautiful black granite Pancha Mukha Ganapati is ready to be shipped to Kauai Aadheenam where He will grace the Anna Purna vegetable gardens managed by the Siddhidata Kulam.

Much work and decorative landscaping had been done in preparation for the arrival off the Innersearchers. This lovely arch is also bound for Kauai and will be the entry way from 107 Kaholalele Road, next to the Napali Ganesha at the beginning of the Tiruneri path up to Kadavul Nataraja Siva temple.

2005 Indian Odyssey

The 2004 Indian Odyssey was a great success. Ninety pilgrims spent 21 days together with Bodhinatha in Malaysia and South India. Our next Himalayan Academy Travel Study Program is planned to be a 10-day cruise on the South side of the equator, with ports of call in New Zealand and Australia, and events with local Hindu communities there. We expect this to be held in the fall of 2005, in October or November, depending on ship routes.

There have been three Innersearch cruises, all very focused on classes. If you would like to get to know Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami and Gurudeva’s remarkable metaphysical teachings first hand and explore the Hindu spiritual tradition with Gurudeva’s monks and with others on the path, start saving now to join us. Send a message to our coordinator, Sadhaka Dandapani, to put your name on an advance notice list to make sure you get details as soon as they are out.
