What Happened Today at the Monastery?

Bodhinatha at Palani Hills India. We take you to India today in remembrance of the great soul, Sri Sri Sri Sivaratna Puri Swami known as Trichyswami…

Here is the saintly Trichyswami whom we were honored to have darshan with during the last Innersearch

He is presented with the edition of Hinduism Today in which he has been chosen for the Hindu Renaissance Award for 2003.

These photos of the Maha Samadhi proceeds arrived yesterday. His Holiness was wrapped in the traditional manner for this tradition…

In some lineages the Satgurus choose not to be cremated. Trichyswami’s body was placed in a special 4 X 4 crypt, which was dug underground inside the sanctum of a Sri Chakra Pitham at the Ashram. The body was embedded in vibhuti and sandalwood powder, and the crypt was filled with sand in accordance with the ancient tradition. After the crypt was sealed, a Sri Chakra Meru was installed above.

After the puja, the swamis all came back and Jeyendrapuri Swami came to Trichy Swami’s room and sat at his chair for the first time in the presence of all the monks.

This was followed by food at the hall. Special puja was done to Trichyswami’s photo and the formalities usually carried out for Trichy Swami like garlanding and placing flowers on the head was done to Jeyendrapuri Swami.

Back Home on Kauai

A beautiful day at the Aadheenam. Saravananathaswami gave his report for the Ekadanta Kulam activities… He’s been working on some tithing reports, reviewing the levels of initiation of various members, communicating with some young men about monastic life, getting ready for samskaras in the temple and is generally very busy indeed.

Sadhaka Dandapani, who does most of the hosting of guests finally got some relief as the traffic has dropped now that the holidays are over. He has been working hard on a new brochure for our branch center in Mauritius, which will be going into print production in a few weeks.

Paramacharya Ceyonswami has “reading” duties as we approach the end of the editorial cycle for the next edition of Hinduism Today. All the Acharyas read all pages of the magazine each issue.

Recently the Sendan family on Kauai took a helicopter ride over Iraivan Temple.

You can view their one minute video here.
