“When a situation comes up, I observe how the conscious mind looks at it. Then I ask how my subconscious would see it. Pondering further, I inquire how my subsuperconscious relates to it; then, how my superconscious views it. Through this process I get a clear picture of what happened, how it happened and if I should take it seriously. You might react strongly to a happening, but when you look closely you see it wasn’t much to be concerned about. It is just the subconscious reacting, so you forget it. The subconscious was the problem. It is your subsuperconscious, intuitive understanding that makes such judgments.”

More reports will be coming with photos, but we have this from Bodhinatha about the important events of the 12th:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Morning event was at the Kottu Malai Pillaiyar temple. This temple is interesting and powerful. The actual murthi is a bit small but when you stand there and worship you have the feeling that in the inner worlds Ganesha is a hundred feet tall and you are standing inside of Him. A powerful shakti indeed. Samaya Diksha given for four sishya at the temple plus talk and vibhuti prasadam. It turned out the initiation was during Ashlesha nakshatra, Yogaswami’s nakshatra observance, so that was extra auspicious.
Then we had lunch with the Kulapati families and a few others.
Lots of afternoon meetings at the hotel, so we made good use of our suite space, mainly young couples.
Evening event was at Bukit Gasing Temple where we blessed the stupi metal piece for their Dakshinamurthy shrine and watched it be installed. The murthi will be installed on the 16th. Talk and vibhuti darshan.
It was a busy and wonderful day for sure.
Om Namasivaya, Bodhinatha
At the Aadheenam Today
Today is the last day of this phase… Sunday with clear weather. We had over 60 visitors for the weekly tour.
Here is Sannyasin Arumugaswami with Dr. Inam Rahman, MD who is running for Congress for Hawaii District No 2. which includes the island of Kauai. Originally from Pakistan, he now lives in Honolulu, married to a Hawaii lady and is very active in the field of providing community health care. He heard about our temple and was awestruck by what he saw here.
A huge tour day crowd. Sadhaka Dandapani said they were all bright, polite, and asked so many intelligent questions.
What’s Happening?
Well the Ganapati Kulam does their sharing on Sun 5 each phase, which is today… so here’s a small list of what they are doing.
Palaniswami has been working with the process of optical character recognition for a lot of documents for Saiva Siddhanta Church and many of our old manuscripts, which have all been turned into searchable PDF’s. He’s organized these on our server…
Kumarswami has been working hard on a new edition of Saiva Dharma Shastras which is being updated to reflect changes that have occurred these past few years. Its a lot of tedious work taking the old files from Quark Express and putting them into InDesign.
Arumugaswami has been working on Hinduism Today articles, this week focusing on a story from Toronto about the community there… He also shared news of the “plant corn” initiative he has going on Himalayan Acres across the river…
Natarajnathaswami has been working on many Hinduism Today articles.
Sivakatirswami has been continuing on putting the new color edition of Dancing with Siva on the web, daily TAKA, and the massive project of consolidating all web content from our servers in Hawaii and San Diego to the new server in Connecticut.
Yogi Japendranatha has been working on his Hinduism Today articles and also on some advanced web work for the future, and also keeping up our network systems.
One man said, “You know, I was not very inspired about the idea of wasting time going to visit a Hindu Monastery, but my wife convinced me. And now this has been the highlight of our whole stay on Kauai. We did every thing, helicopter, boat rides, visited the scenic spots. But there is nothing to compare to what you have here!”
Our Iraivan carving site manager and long-time devotee of Gurudeva, Jiva Rajasankara, has been working hard this past month to get this sign ready in time for Bodhinatha’s visit to Mauritius, which happens in a couple of days. The sign is inspired by Gurudeva’s similar signs, six of them, which now stand all around the island of Kauai, a gift from Gurudeva to the spirit of the island he loved so. The Kauai signs say “One Island, Many Peoples, All Kauaians” and “Aloha: it’s the spirit of Kauai”
When devotee Manon Mardemootoo visited Kauai a couple of years back and saw these 3-foot by 6-foot rose granite signs, he thought how wonderful it would be to make a similar gift to his nation-island of Mauritius. Bodhinatha responded by having six signs made in Bangalore, of which this is the first. In French it says, “One Island, Many Peoples, All Mauritians” and like the Kauai signs it is meant to promote and strengthen unity in diversity in this nation which is mostly Hindu.
Bodhinatha will present the gifts officially to the President of Mauritius in a few days. So TAKA visitors get a sneak preview of that meeting.
Date: January031999
Title: Sadhana of Creating Positive Plans
Category: The Guru
Duration: 9 min., 1 second
Date Given: January 3, 1999
Today at Kauai Adheenam, January 3rd. Greetings to our cyberspacers, who have come to our cyberspace ashram. Welcome! The doors were open; you came in and here is the news.
Today, we are beginning a three-day festival. Families and devotees and students of Himalayan Academy and members of Saiva Siddhanta Church have all come to celebrate ‘Happy Birthday to me’! Happy Birthday to me!! Physically, 72 years of age by the western calender but 73 by the Asian way of looking at it, because my first birthday was the day I was born. Is anything going to change as far as I am concerned? No way can it change. We’re going on to better and best.
We have two new sadhaka taking vows today. They have been sitting by our wall very sincerely, Nilakantha and Jivananda. They will become Saiva sadhaka and the devas at the walls have blessed them. Another group of sadhaka and yogis are renewing their two-year vows today also. The vows are given for two years. They can be renewed or not renewed. It is up to the individual or to the entire group of us.
We want to welcome Easvan Param and Toshadeva from California, who have come for task force. Toshadeva will be here for two months. Easvan Param put in the new lighting system of our 108 ‘tandavams’ in Kadavul temple. Thank you very much.
You are probably asking what are the ‘tandavas’? Lord Siva is a dancer, who created the Universe. He created it out of Himself through dance, made of 108 postures. They are traditional South Indian postures, and we have all 108 at the Kadavul Hindu Temple and they are beautiful. And, thanks to Easvan Param; now we can see them. They are beautifully lighted. 1999, Happy New Year; plan for the Year ahead. I want you to sit down. Here is something you have to do. Here is another Sadhana. I know we have made lists for three days, three kinds of lists. I want you to sit down. In ten minutes, I want you to get positive. I want you to lift your energy up into your head. Take a breath and feel positive. Take a piece of paper and I want you to write down all the positive things you are going to do for every month of 1999. Do it all in ten minutes. Let your superconscious mind, your intuition, your divine mind, your still, small voice. Listen to it and make it loud. Write down all the positive things you are going to do. You are drawing on your creative energies, your prana. Your creative energies are coming down for a better life for you and those who you love, and in your sphere of influence.
Now, here is something to not do. As creation takes its time before it manifests, do not destroy your creation through negative thinking. Don’t destroy your creations through doubt. Don’t destroy your creations through feeling unable to continue to create. Old people think, “What will they say about me?”
Go ahead and realize that if it is a positive creation for the good of yourself and others, not only for the good of yourself but for others too. That is important to remember; that everyone will help you. The devas will help you. The Gods will help you. I will help you. Everyone will get behind it later. If you begin to feel negative, use this affirmation: I can, I will, I am able. I can, I will, I am able. I can, I will, I am able to fulfill the positive affirmations and plans that I have made for 1999. January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, and December. Come the end of December, look back over your life. You will be proud of yourself and I’ll be proud of you too. It means a lot to be proud of yourself. Now, I think we are coming into some questions. Oh, here’s a wonderful question! “Is it true that the Satguru must reincarnate over and over and over and over and over until all of his disciples reach the portals of liberation and are liberated?
Ours and all satgurus is a successorship. It is my duty to turn over all of my disciples, whether they have realized it or not to my successor, and then to his successor and then to his successor. Because the guru doesn’t do it for you. You have got to do it for yourself. The Guru points the way. The Guru guides you. The Guru protects you. The Guru keeps you on the right path but he is not a magic pill. You have to live. You have to work. You have to encounter your karmas. If you’ve been a very bad boy, you have to learn to be a very good boy by learning how bad you were, correcting the matter through what we call penance or prayaschitta, and then get on with your life.
So, the system is that I have to be on a lower level plane, until my successor appoints a successor and finishes his tenure on Earth. Then he has to be on that lower level plane until his successor finishes his tenure on Earth and so forth like that. Therefore, it is an ever building, ever passing on of the information, ever passing on of the siddhis, ever passing on of the wonderful life of the Guru-disciple relationship. But nobody is going to do it for you, if that is what your thinking. You have to do it for yourself.
The Guru gives the map, explains the destination. You’ve got to get in that car and drive to that destination. He will protect you psychically, spiritually, physically the best that he can, but you are the driver. Always remember that. There are no magic elements involved other than making you face your negative self. Bring forward your positive self and realize your divine Self beyond all concepts of the mind. Timelessness, formlessness, spacelessness; get the idea?
Thank you for the very nice question. You, wherever you are. We couldn’t tell the country from your e-mail, but ask another one if this is not clear.
Aum Namah Sivaya.
