“Those who have recently given up their physical bodies are easy to reach, because more often than not they are still close to Earth consciousness and enjoy receiving communication from loved ones in the form of written prayers. Souls who are well settled in the inner world but who are nearly ready to reincarnate are also easy to contact in this way. Souls who have attained mukti, freedom from rebirth, but who are not yet ready to enter into higher planes where they will no longer be involved with or communicate with those in Earth consciousness–because they have not yet finished helping their devotees to attain their highest potential in this lifetime–will also receive friendly messages from their loved ones on Earth. Many chelas communicate with their departed gurus in this way. “

Bodhinatha is in Maryland…we don’t have any official news other than to say they were very impressed with the Siva temple in Atlanta….

Bodhinatha’s next travel is to Atlanta, Georgia, and Bethesda, Maryland. Please visit his travel page for more information.

It was Chitra Puja today.

The puja for Gurudeva was held early this morning.

To catch a picture in the morning one has to open the F-stop on the camera. It is not actually this bright in the temple at that hour in the morning.

But, in a way, this is very accurate depiction of the inside experience, as the presence of Gurudeva fills the room with a bright fullness.

A story for you:

One of Gurudeva’s sishya had been living on Kauai for many years.

The karma of him and his wife was such that they needed to go back to the mainland to take care of their elderly parents, which Gurudeva always felt his devotees should do, rather than send them to some nursing home.

The sishya asked Gurudeva: “We are so fortunate to be in your presence here on Kauai. When we go away, what is the best way we can stay in tune with you?”

[photo: Monks chanting Gurudeva’s names during the puja…]

Gurudeva’s response is even more significant now, since his Maha Samadhi.

Gurudeva said:

“The best way to be in tune with me is to do my work, work closely with the mission and push forward the goals of my mission… then we will be in tune….”

Jai Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami ki Jai!

He lives on in our hearts and is immediately present in the inner worlds.

Mr. and Mrs. Ashwin and Bina Rajpara
are from San Francisco. They met Gurudeva there in the early 80’s.

They had just been married then and Gurudeva gave them some good advice which they remember to this day. They have been coming to Kauai Aadheenam from time to time through the years.

They take a tour of the publications building. Arumugaswami explains how Hinduism Today is created.

Two of our senior sishya, Kulapati’s Easan Katir and Deva Rajan recently represented the Hindu Heritage
Endowment (HHE) at the 17th annual meeting of the Council of Hindu Temples in Tampa, Florida.

Here is a short report from Kulapati Easan Katir:
“HHE is a multi-million dollar foundation which administers over 50 endowments for Hindus worldwide. After the meeting, a number of temple representatives asked that we give this presentation before their board of trustees to help with their various charitable programs.
