“Siva’s followers take pride in the fact that the philosophical basis of their peerless lineage lies in the unity of Siddhanta and Vedanta. This mysterious dance of dualism and nondualism is called monistic theism. Aum.”

–Gurudeva

Mrs. Sivayogam from the UK was another of our wonderful elders on the recent Innersearch. A mature and devout soul, she knows our lineage well because she is from Jaffna. She travels to Sri Lanka from time to time to perform free medical clinics as she is an eye surgeon. She was a great balancing force for the whole group — so poised and always centered. Thank you for joining us Amma!

Bodhinatha’s next journey is brief, on the weekend of April 3-4 in the San Francisco Bay Area of northern California. He will visit with Saiva Siddhanta Church members and Himalayan Academy Students.

Vijay Narasimha and his wife Shantala and daughters, Shruti and little Niti. They are from Tampa, Florida, originally from Bangalore.

Vijay Kumar and his wife Jayshree are doctors from Austin, Minnesota. Originally from South India, Vijay is from Trichy and Jayshree hails from Chennai. This was their second wedding anniversary today. They came to Kauai just to visit the temple and get blessings on this auspicious occasion.

Niti poses coyly for our camera out by Dakshinamurti, next to Iraivan.

This is Jeremiah, Jeremiah’s mother on the right and his friend Manasi on the left are traveling together. Jeremiah’s mom was very interested in Hinduism and asked a lot of questions about our religion.

2004 Indian Odyssey

January 19, 2004 – February 5, 2004

Bangalore, Madurai, Tanjavur, Chennai and
Nearby Temples: Palani Hills, Pillaiyarpatti, Chidambaram,
Swamimalai, Kanchi and others

This is Hersha Harilela, from Hong Kong. A member of the Harilela family, elders in her family have traveled to Kauai and Hersha was here many years ago as a young teenager. She studied yoga with the Integral Yoga Institute, as taught be Swami Satchidananda. Recently she began reading Gurudeva’s books and felt called to come on Innersearch. She teaches yoga and finds Gurudeva’s writings very useful for her work. It was wonderful to have such a knowledgeable spiritual aspirant with us.

We have the second to last installment of our Malaysia documentary. Here we are around noon, January 20th, after our visit to Batu Caves, about to go for a short ride to be hosted by our members for a lunch picnic at a beautiful park in the upscale Shah Alam sector of Kuala Lumpur.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kumarswami chats with the Innersearchers while quenching their thirst with young coconuts.
Back into the bus after the long walk under the burning heat of the sun…Sadhaka Dandapani sure looks glad!
Palaniswami announces,”That was Batu Caves…Now we are heading for a picnic at Shah Alam Lake…”
And here we are the picnic spot…
Ice breaking games to help introduce the Innersearcher and the Malaysian members to each other….
“I’ll go!” All rushing forward to take lead of the game…friendly yet exciting..
Palaniswami and Natarajnathaswami could not help smiling at the amount of fun we were having….
And who do we have here?..Sadhaka Dandapani busy capturing the others on his camera..too busy to notice that his photo is being taken! Sadhaka in action!
A brief testimonial session from each one…Here Ruth Ann Delph from New York tells how much she enjoyed her stay in Malaysia…
Palaniswami thanks all for making their stay in Malaysia so special….
One of many banana plate dinners served to the Innersearchers in India. Here we receive a sumptuous lunch at Kailas Ashram, Bangalore.
This stone sculpture of Gurudeva’s head has been done with uncanny accuracy.
Another of the amazing achievements of Sri Sri Balagangadharanathaswami of Bangalore: his new international school outside Bangalore. It is a tribute to his selfless social service and to the charity bestowed upon these projects by his devotees. Swamji has long been a supporter of the Iraivan temple and the carving site is on 11 acres land belonging to his Mutt.
2005 Indian Odyssey
The 2004 Indian Odyssey was a great success. Ninety pilgrims spent 21 days together with Bodhinatha in Malaysia and South India. Our next Himalayan Academy Travel Study Program is planned to be a 10-day cruise on the South side of the equator, with ports of call in New Zealand and Australia, and events with local Hindu communities there. We expect this to be held in the fall of 2005, in October or November, depending on ship routes.
There have been three Innersearch cruises, all very focused on classes. If you would like to get to know Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami and Gurudeva’s remarkable metaphysical teachings first hand and explore the Hindu spiritual tradition with Gurudeva’s monks and with others on the path, start saving now to join us. Send a message to our coordinator, Sadhaka Dandapani, to put your name on an advance notice list to make sure you get details as soon as they are out.
Check our children and youth section for new items for the young and young at heart!
