“How does one distinguish between intuition and usual thought-feeling processes? Desires come through feeling, warmth of emotion, as do thoughts, schemes, ways of manipulating the media forces for one’s own personal benefit or that of a loved one. This is contrary to the power of intuition, which runs cold and is direct, like a bolt of lightning in the inner sky or the subtle rainbow of an etheric aura which bypasses the processes of current thinking, giving answers before the question and solving problems before they have accrued. “

Mr. and Mrs. Raman and Suselah Pumanian from Singapore were among our honored elders on the trip. Veteran Hindus, our hearts were warmed the day we had a special puja for Raman’s 60’s birthday at Madurai.

Bodhinatha’s next journey is brief, on the weekend of April 3-4 in the San Francisco Bay Area of northern California. He will visit with Saiva Siddhanta Church members and Himalayan Academy Students.

At home today, we had our final meetings with Selvanathan Sthapati from India on his last day on Kauai.

It was a really auspicious confluence of minds to have him with us to meet with Bodhinatha, Shanmugam Sthapati, the Acharyas, and of course Yoginathaswami who helps coordinate all these communications.

Gopinath, Niharika, and Maya from the Bay Area in San Francisco, California. Niharika is an accomplished Odissi dancer. They had learnt about the monastery from a friend who had visited about a year ago.

2004 Indian Odyssey

January 19, 2004 – February 5, 2004

Bangalore, Madurai, Tanjavur, Chennai and
Nearby Temples: Palani Hills, Pillaiyarpatti, Chidambaram,
Swamimalai, Kanchi and others

Here is Ganga Sivanathan who was formerly Jennifer Harvey from Australia. A student of Gurudeva’s teachings, she came to the Innersearch as an “Aussie seeker” and was transformed into a Saivite Hindu. It is always wonderful to witness this “home-coming of the soul,” which been one of the hallmarks of Indian Odyssey Innersearches through the years.

Ganga is a professional in the field of information technology and her mature presence was a big asset to the whole group. She invites you to join her at the little Murugan temple in the lovely city of Adelaide.

From the Tropf collection, a magnificent view of the temple tank in Madurai. Madurai was our first “maha” temple experience on the trip and we stayed there for about six days, going by bus to various locations outstation. It’s truly an incredible place. The high scintillating shakti of Mother permeates the atmosphere.

It’s one thing to read what Gurudeva declares, in the Nandinatha Sutras– this classical Hindu teaching:

“God’s Manifest Nature Of Love —

“Siva’s followers all believe that Lord Siva is God, whose immanent nature of love, Parashakti, is the substratum, primal substance or pure consciousness flowing through all form as energy, existence, knowledge and bliss. Aum.”

It is quite another level to experience this first hand as a palpable radiance that permeates heart and mind at Meenakshi Madurai temple.

Mary Beth Harnett touches a gentle elephant…

The Malaysia story continues…. coming down from cave at the top of the steps at Batu Caves, we tour the museum in a cave at the base of the hill with its truly marvelous painted statues…

~~~~~~~
Heading next to the nearest cave….
What do we have here?…Beautiful statue of Ganesha at the entrance…
Lord Shiva and Parvathi as we go in…..
More and more as we go in…Lord Muruga in Swamimalai, where He takes the form of the Supreme Guru in the story where He teaches His own father, Lord Shiva, the meaning of the sacred Aum.
Lord Siva in the form of Nataraja..Amazing!..
Could not help capturing these fine artifacts…Lord Muruga at Thiruthani…
Lord Shiva as Dhakshinamurthi…
Okay, just one more to go….Lord Muruga in Palanimalai
That was a long walk!…How about some drinks to quench your thirst?
Ahhhh! Fresh young coconut water… This is delicious! Want to have some? Bhavani Param offers the drinks….
2005 Indian Odyssey
The 2004 Indian Odyssey was a great success. Ninety pilgrims spent 21 days together with Bodhinatha in Malaysia and South India. Our next Himalayan Academy Travel Study Program is planned to be a 10-day cruise on the South side of the equator, with ports of call in New Zealand and Australia, and events with local Hindu communities there. We expect this to be held in the fall of 2005, in October or November, depending on ship routes.
There have been three Innersearch cruises, all very focused on classes. If you would like to get to know Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami and Gurudeva’s remarkable metaphysical teachings first hand and explore the Hindu spiritual tradition with Gurudeva’s monks and with others on the path, start saving now to join us. Send a message to our coordinator, Sadhaka Dandapani, to put your name on an advance notice list to make sure you get details as soon as they are out.
Check our children and youth section for new items for the young and young at heart!
