“You have to know that you are a soul, and then you have to know that you know that you are a soul. Then, perhaps you can say that you realize that you are a soul. Now this is not some great yogic realization, this is just one of the important first things on the path.”

Title: Guru Purnima Talk on Karma Management Day 1 Part 3

Category: Karma

Duration: 11 minutes, 4 seconds

Date Given: July 18, 2002

Date Posted: July_30_2002

Given by: Bodhinatha

Cybertalk: 2002 Kauai Innersearch/Guru Purnima Day 1, Part 3: Karma Management Principle No. 1 is “forego retaliation.” Karma often comes through other people, but the first step to managing our karma effectively is to not retaliate, for that continues the karmic cycle we are faced with the opportunity of ending. Karma Management Principle No. 2 is “accept responsibility.” We often take credit for our karma when things are going well in our life, but it’s human nature to blame others with things are going poorly. Truly, we created it all at some past time.

Hindu pilgrims from several places are pictured here. One young lady, originally from Delhi, who now lives in Honolulu and is a physician, brought her mother here who is visiting from Oman (a country in the Middle East). One in the group has been receiving Gurudeva’s daily Master Course lessons while living in Japan.

One of the ladies was full of some fundamental questions like “Who am I? Where did I come from? Where are we going? What is the goal of life? What happens when we die?” She got her chance to ask these questions directly when the whole group had darshan with Satguru Bodhinatha. He carefully and patiently answered each of her questions. She later heard that her questions were exactly the same as those asked and answered in the book Dancing with Siva, Hinduism’s Contemporary Catechism, so she bought a copy on her way out, commenting enthusiastically that it appeared very simple to read.

Another group, also physicians, are on their way from Japan back to mainland America. They work for the armed forces.
One of the ladies kept saying “this is just heaven here!….I just have to come back!”

They greatly enjoyed seeing the Iraivan stone-joining work, sampling betel leaves and rudraksha fruit, and visiting our Bali Hai waterfall.

We want to feature more of our new sishya of Saiva Siddhanta Church who took their vratas during the recent Guru Purnima celebrations. Here is the Hotranatha family, Appa Ajaya, Amma Punita and Yatrika, (older sister Devika was not on hand for the photo.) Welcome to the global satsang of Saiva Siddhanta Church and congratulations for the great committments you have made to Saiva Dharma! Everyone is strengthened when new souls join the band of Lord Siva’s family.

Jutikadevi Raja also became a Vratya Sisha of Saiva Siddhanta Church during Guru Purnima. Congratulations Jutikadevi! Jutika is very active in her Sivathondu, helping with Hinduism Today subscription renewal calling and other tasks.

Today was our weekly tour day, full of shiny souls coming to visit the monastery and San Marga.

They were an enthusiastic group and purchased lots of books to take home… Gurudeva’s message is going out the door in a big way today!

The ever fascinating discovery of Rudraksha beads.

That’s all for this phase! This TAKA will remain up during our two day retreat and we will see you all again Friday evening. Aum Namasivaya!
