This condolence was sent from Trinidad Hinduism Today correspondent, Anil Mahabir:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To all the monks at Hinduism Today,
Namaste, Sita Ram,
I have been deeply saddened upon hearing about the passing of dear Gurudeva. My Divali 2001 would certainly not be as festive as I thought it would probably have been.
On behalf of my family and I, please accept our deepest condolences over the departure from this abode of this great ATMA. May peace be eternally showered upon his soul.
I take solace in the belief that his successor, Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami, [may Goddess Lakshmi bless him on this Divali day], will keep the Hinduism Today ship afloat as the message of Hinduism continues to be spread around the world and its History recorded in that great publication founded by Satguru Subramuniyaswami himself.
Aum Nama Sivaya
Bodhinatha has for decades, managed the finances of all our organizations. Slowly for several years he has been training Sannyasin Skandanathaswami to take over much of the work. It’s a highly complex system and will take several years for the training to be complete.
Today brought many interested seekers and tourists for the end of phase morning tour.
Paramacharya Ceyonswami meets with Mr. and Mrs. Alahan. They have three wonderful daughters (22, 17 and 14 yrs of age) who all need to find suitable husbands… religious minded, capable young men who will let them fulfill their spiritual and cultural lives as Saivtes…. These are high caliber young ladies. Finding a prince for a princess is a challenge!
Sivananda Katir came to visit Sivakatirswami to touch base on web work. Sivananda helps with our web sites and is employed as an IT professional with the internet department of a local company. He was born into Saiva Siddhanta Church and Swami knew him when he was just a little boy. Now, he is a grown young man of 20. He took a break after high school and got some real world experience and now he is going on for his higher education in computer science. He can write PERL scripts in his sleep.
Another fleet of visitors.
These two young ones picked up our Hatha Yoga insight section and decided to try a few asanas.
The spinal twist is a tough one… OK, now, put your left arm over your right knee and turn it backwards, stuff it through the other way around your thigh and reach your other hand behind your back…. in other words, turn yourself into a pretzel or a string-hopper. It’s a bit confusing… our little deva on the left leans over for better look at the photo… Wow, is it really possible!
If you only had a few home remedies or medicinal plants, tumeric, known as “haldi” in Sanskrit, would be at the top of the list of Ayurveda’s recommendations. We grow our own here in abundance. The curcumins in the root are highly beneficial to the system, healing, reducing inflammation, strengthening the immune system. reducing blood-pressure, increasing circulation… and more. Sadhaka Adinatha holds up a single root piece from one plant, with many fingers.
Dr. Sodhi, will frequently prescribe for one or more of the monks “eat one finger of tumeric a twice a day for 40 days.”
This was an amazing harvest and there’s still more in the ground! If you can’t get the root, the powdered tumeric is still quite effective.
Visitors have a great experience coming up to the top of the temple work site and watching the silpis work.
This piece will eventually wrap around the back of one vertical side of the entrance of the sanctum. That stone is rounded at the back and Silpi Adaikkalam is working to get a perfect fit on this one.
We want to thank those who responded to our request to send things to the silpis. Here is a note from Kasi Ramanathan, a medical student (intern) who visited here with his parents and met Gurudeva. He is doing the Master Course Correspondence Study right now. He responded saying:
Namaste Saravanathaswami,
I wanted to see if you could pass this message along. My parents have many Tamil magazines and we will package them and send them for the silipis to read. We will also see if we have any older Tamil movies.
Aum Shanti
Kasi
