Here is a wonderful message from a couple in the Netherlands who were guided into Hinduism by Gurudeva.

“Prostrations and adorations to the Feet of Lord Shiva, Pati, the first Inspirator to follow the Sanatana Dharma and Yoga Marga for the realisation of the Self, Himself, in this life and all lives.

When we were informed about Gurudeva’s final days, we can only think and remember him as our beloved father in Hinduism, who inspired us through Hinduism Today, who allowed us to translate and publish Hinduism Today in Dutch, through which Hinduism became not only part of our life but our whole life, which blessing was sanctified through the traditional Namakarana Samskara. He just wrote, “Is it not time that you take this step,” and giving his best counselor to guide us for three months, to find ourselves as Hindu souls. In 1995, in Gurudeva, Sivaya Subramnuiyaswami’s presence, in the Sri Siddhi Vinayagar Temple of Hamm, Germany, our family could take the Namakarana Samsara, and come home in Hinduism. His hands blessed us, in a strongest moment of bliss. (I remember him smiling at this mother several times during the 4-hour ceremony, as our son Darshan was constantly running around in the temple. His smile made one calm!)

Gurudeva, Sivaya Subramuniyaswami, will always be our Father in Hinduism. We are thankful to know him. With heartfelt gratitude we humbly say Pranams to his spiritual successor, Sri Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami.

Yours in Shiva, Aum Namah Shivaya,

Soven, Amrita and Darshan Sivanand

Bodhinatha presided yesterday over the blessing of our new fork lift. The old one, which was a loaner from a local company had its final days… but with the temple rising day by day we had to get one on the job and some generous sponsors came forward immediately to meet the costs.

Sadhaka Tyaganatha performs the ceremony. Sannyasin Yoginathaswami was glad it arrived today… because one of the silpis actually ran our of work today and swami needed to move some stones right away.

We are appreciating our new enthusiasm in the camera department as one of the Siddhidata Kulam members is behind the shutter today.

Here is the presiding Diety of Lord Ganesha, a lovely murthi in white marble, seated on the forklift.

Sadhaka Tejadeva and Shanmuganathaswami watch with wrapped attention. Blessings a new vehicle is always a joyous occasion. It really brings into manifestation the oft-spoken phrase that Hinduism is a way of life… and when we bring our ceremonial rites into our lives like this, it renews the vision of sacredness in all things.

The forks on the lift provide a perfect pujari’s platform.

Bodhinatha breaks the coconut.

Limes have been placed under the wheels and Yoginathaswami drives backward and forward over them.

Wow! This one reaches high into the sky… just like we do in meditation, taking consciousness up, up and in — to the clear white light!

Our silpis were about to come to a standstill and needed some stones that were located in our warehouse building… here we put the new ‘elephant” to work right after the ceremony was completed.

Off down the road to Rishi Valley and then to Iraivan.

Thus do we conclude our dramatic forklift documentary. Wasn’t it thrilling! Hollywood directors who pre-screened today’s release were awestruck with the cinematography. They were making queries about our cameramen… we told them sorry, they are on a lifetime contract to serve God.

Another delightful event was the visit today by a whole group of pre-schoolers… some were really, really, little people — ages four and below! Today they got a full day of outings and adventures, and Kauai’s Hindu monastery was on the list for the morning. Yogi Mahadevan greets them at the temple.

Looking through their eyes down at the river in the valley… it must have been a pretty amazing sight for a 3-year old!

They all wore beautiful shirts. The ones with the stars are older than four years of age. They were very well-behaved and bright children.

The trend to start education at ever earlier ages is spreading around the world. Now the goal is for children to be able to read before they enter school at age 5. I don’t see why not, Children are a lot smarter than people think. Of course, they knew that all along.

They come to the door of the publications facility and look in at some of the swamis standing at the door. One of the teachers brings each of the children forward and holds their hands in anjali mudra to show respect. The Japanese children from Buddhist families already knew the gesture and stood solemnly with they hands together to look in at the monks.

A group photo across the Chola garden pond.

Lucky souls who will grow up on Kauai alongside the Iraivan temple.
