Gurudeva’s Statement on Sept. 11th

From one of Gurudeva oldest devotees from Sri Lanka: Mr. S. Sivapalasingam, now an elderly man:

====================

“I would like to record my reminiscence of Gurudeva with Saiva Swami Sangam’s approval in the HT souvenir that will be published at a later date.

During my connection with my Satguru for the last two decades, His Holiness had been generous caring, considerate, loving and compassionate. I would like to record the happiest and holiest moments I had with Gurudeva.

March 1983: At the Subramuniya Ashram in Alaveddy (Jaffna) whilst Sri Muthusamy Kurukkal performed Homa rites and Nadaraja Swami chanted 1008 Sri Rudra Mantras, my Satguru placed both palms on my head and uttered the Holy Mantra “Aum Namasivaya” into my right ear. It had been a powerful Diksha that changed my life.

1983-1984 — I followed San Marga Master course 1 and 2 and was granted a completion Certificate.

April 14, 1996 — When I had to leave everything in Jaffna and come to reside in Colombo, Gurudeva rang up and consoled me. Also His Holiness gave “Blessings with Love” on my birthday.

1999/2000- — Gurudeva sent me copies of “Merging with Siva,” “Weaver’s Wisdom” and “How to Become a Hindu” all autographed “Blessings with Love” through some Sri Lankan devotees.

March 2000: I translated some main portions of Merging with Siva into Tamil and sent to Gurudeva. It was appreciated with Love and blessings by His Holiness.

With my salutations to Jeeva Mukta our Satguru.”

S. Siva Palasingam

Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami is a real Raja Yogi, and when he is absorbed in samadhi we may never know when he will return. He has extended our morning meditations which he leads daily, to over an hour which we really love… time to go in and in and in…..

Another bromiliad flowers with a spectacular showing…. It reminds one a bit of the inner nadis in meditation which all light up and start pointing upwards and inwards as one “locks in” on the way to pure awareness and the clear white light.

Our team at the temple is doing very well and are nearly finished with the outer wall of the 7th course. Here is Chinnu at the blacksmith forge filling the cistern where the hot chisels are put after being hammered sharp.

As the sanctum rises the relative sizes of the inner and outerwalls change in an interesting fashion: the outer stones become narrower and the inner stones become wider, causing the center of gravity of the walls to shift inward, against itself. It is all part of the ancient design which keeps a “building built with gravity” solid as a rock.

Sundaram Achari is in charge of the team while Shanmugam Sthapati is in India at his son’s wedding.

The silpis give Sadhaka Thondunatha a chance to assist, by working on one of the joints…be careful!

Sadhaka Thondunatha with the team. They only speak Tamil so he and the other monks who speak Tamil are their link to the others in the monastery and the community at large. Please give generously. Support the work of the Iraivan Temple… Sponsor a course of stones today!

Malaysia Sevaks

Malaysia Sevaks

This is Barathy Sockanathan of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, who is being trained to assist “remotely” from Malaysia, like her brother (featured yesterday) with our web site work. She is helping in the area of new books and later with a new children’s area on the web. Barathy has been student of Gurudeva’s along with her brother (featured yesterday) and her sister for over ten years, since she was a “young girl.” She’s a real dynamic helper and usually gets back to us on assignments within 72 hours or a week, even with her work schedule. We really appreciate that kind of responsiveness!

All Gurudeva’s sishya “tithe time” which means they give one tenth of their working time, 4 hours a week, to some karma yoga activity.

You can check out her current work in progress which is the new site for Living with Siva

Malaysia is a multi-ethnic culture with a civilized past going back thousands of years. Tamils, Chinese and Malays make up the population. The country made headlines a few years back when one of her top athletes, a young Tamil man, Magendran climbed Mount Everest, the first Malaysian to ever reach the top.

He recently took a group for a climb of Malaysia’s tallest peak, Kinabalu. And Barathy and her friend Annapoorani joined the group.

Here is the group at the top!
