Gurudeva’s Statement — Attack on America

Happy Pancha Ganapati everyone! Gurudeva once told us: “If you want to know me, first you have to get to know my friends, Lord Ganesha and Lord Muruga.” Gurudeva was a great Ganesha Bhaktar and made it clear to his sishya that after they had completed their philosophical study, all Hindus must first of all establish a very personal relationship with Lord Ganesha. Lord Ganesha is not a mere symbol but a real Being and He is the one who helps us in the mundane affairs of the world, and the one who also catches us in his lap if we fall from the heights of yogic sadhana… there we land, in the temple at Lord Ganesha’s Feet. Read all about Lord Ganesha in the wonderful book “Loving Ganesha, Hinduisms Endearing Elephant-Faced God.”

Bodhinatha gave a wonderful inspired talk today about “the River of Life.” It will be posted here in a few days. Stay tuned to learn about the spiritual lessons that water has to give us.

Our Sun One Homa was powerful as usual. One feels the inner world of light open at the top of the head during these powerful ceremonies… and one can feel Gurudeva’s presence “all around here” as he said he would be.

Durvasa Alahan garlands Satguru Bodhinatha after arriving in the temple.

Every morning our devoted and humble silpis come to the temple and touch the feet of all the swamis.

The winter holiday season always bring a unique family group: young school age children (which we rarely see during the year) with their Mom’s and Dad’s. Pancha Ganapati season will be a big pilgrimage time to Kauai in the years ahead!

Here is Sujatha, Ranghu, Nithya and Sharanya Sharma from Rockville, Maryland.

Suneil Parulekar, his wife Rohini and their two daughters Sateja and Sangna joined us today from San Jose, California. Both the girls were born in USA and thus are “Born American Hindus.” Suneil was originally from Mumbai and now works in the semi-conductor industry in Silicon Valley and when he mentioned to a friend he was taking his family to Hawaii, his friend said: “You must visit the Hindu monastery on Kauai….” Suneil was surprised that such a place existed. The family loved the peaceful atmosphere and beautiful surroundings. We look forward to seeing you again!

Krishna and Sita, with Rajadeva in the background.

The Lambodara Kulam office renovation progresses wonderfully… here is our master builder, John Anderson… who we believe can do just about anything, laying the tile on the floor. Sadhaka Adinatha is his helper and the supervisor on the whole job. Last week John finished the wall paper work. This will be one of the most beautiful spaces in the whole monastery. The monastery building was originally built about 1929. We made some upgrades to some parts of the building in the early ’70’s and now thirty years later we are making a few more important and much needed renovations.

After months of rain we were blessed with sunshine today… how lovely the yellow flowers… Yellow is the color of the intellect and the spine… uplifting and stimulating to the mind.

We are blessed to have water on our land, in our air and flowing all around us. The sacred Wailua River flows below the monastery. But farther upstream there is a diversion that feeds another reservoir above us. From that reservoir a stream flows through our property and then merges again with the river belows us. Learn more about it when you listen to Bodhinatha’s wonderful talk later this phase.

Innersearch postponed

Due to the horrific tragedies of September 11th, Himalayan Academy has indefinitely postponed the Canadian Innersearch scheduled to leave next July. Please be assured, we will re-schedule the Innersearch, but only when the present insecurity around the world settles down. Until then, if you are planning to go on a future Innersearch program, continue to set aside a little income each month in a special fund.
