Gurudeva’s Statement — Attack on America

Siva Yogaswami wrote:

“Transcending all mutations of form and attribute,
Surpassing all finite measure is the GURU,
An embodiment of the highest wisdom.”

The great sage Tirumular who wrote the famed 2000 year old classic on Saiva Siddhanta called the “Tirumantiram” writes:

The Guru.

127. In Siva was he rooted: Sivam did he see everywhere.
In the will of Siva did he discern all things,
Transcending consciousness of past, present and future,
And duality ceasing did he realise sweet serenity.

1576. He who’s beyond the visible universe, came down on earth
As a Guru to abide in the hearts of the virtuous,
And illumined them by His grace and made them His own.
The peerless Siva is the priceless NathGuru.

1581. The Guru indeed is Siva,
He is the kingly splendour too;
He is beyond the wisdom of the Vedas.
He is beyond all finite consciousness.

Many pilgrims are coming daily. Two young couples arrived today were both here celebrating their first wedding anniversaries.

Across the river from the Iraivan Temple our newly acquired monastery land is being cleared of old abandoned sugar cane growth. It is a grand total of 407 acres which we refer to as “Himalayan Acres.” We look forward to extending our beautiful tropical gardens, fruit tree and coconut groves and sacred temple plant gardens in the years to come.

This is a lovely photo of the 700-pound Maha Spatika Lingam all decorated with lovely tropical flowers. One day this will be the Siva Lingam of the Iraivan Temple.

Iraivan Wonders

The famous picture of the Prathama Sila Nyasa ceremonies: the first stone laying, which occured in May this year. So much progress has been made since then.

Here is one of the more magnificent pillars of the Iraivan Temple. it is called the “Badra Sthambam” It would be fantastic if you came forward to sponsor this incredible piece of work.

And another “wonderfulment” to come will be the musical pillars of Iraivan. The individual smaller pillars inside will each “ring” with a specific piece on the musical scale. Musicians and singers will be able to use the pillars to tune their instruments. Please, we need everyone’s help. Donate generously. Write to iraivan@hindu.org for ways you can participate, or to find out the price of sponsoring the Badra Sthambam above.

Indian Ocean Monastery
Gurudeva’s spiritual center in the island country of Mauritius
in the Indian Ocean near South Africa

Saiva Siddhanta Church of Mauritius continues to be strong and active as many people come to the spiritual park now maintained by the families there.

On the right, is Vanda Nursimooloo and her fiance, Rajesh from the south. Vanda has been to many of the Youth Retreats organised by the Himalayan Academy in the past and now she wanted to introduce Rajesh to the Spiritual Park. They are planning to be married in June 2002. Both Vanda and Rajesh were happy to be basked in the peaceful atmosphere pervading the Park.

Every month Gurudeva’s sishyas perform a special homa to invoke the blessings and help of the inner worlds. This month devotees met on one Sunday early morning for their homa at the bank of the Rempart river, where that river meets the sea. Incredibly on that day, hundreds of prayers were burnt into the fire. Gurudeva explained that when these prayers reach the inner world or Devaloka, one of the devas or angel Beings picks it up and devises mystical ways to help the person who has written it. Devas have a thousand and one ways to help devotees.

Once the homa was over everyone sat quietly as we see here, to medidate and absorb the shakti. On that Sunday four kulapatis, Moogam, Kulagen, Amba and Rajen conducted the homa.

On the Chittra Nakshatra day, sacred to Beloved Gurudeva, sishyas met at the Saiva Dharmasala in the early evening, to worship the Guru. After a very nice pada puja performed by Soundiren Arnasalon, sishyas sat on the wooden floor on the terrace of the Dharmasala to meditate and sing Nachintanai. Here we see Kulapati Amba Valayten on the left giving a testimony while Paramasiven, Soundiren, Somandiren, Sanjeevee, and others are carefully listnening.

Tiru Siva Mahadevan Thungavelu and his wife, Miniama are long time sishyas of Gurudeva. Their little child is really happy when he is at the Spiritual Park. This nice couple are like many others who have studied Gurudeva’s teachings and are happily applying them to their daily life.

Logadassen Peruman and his wife have been studying with Gurudeva for many years. Logadassen is a university graduate and a science teacher, teaching mainly Physics to upper forms students at a secondary school in Rose Hill. When he first came across Gurudeva’s teachings for the first time he also had the chance to read the Tao of Physics by Fritz Capra. Since then his whole perspective of life and science changed and he decided to follow the path of the Nathas as taught by Gurudeva. Having officially gone through family name change, members of his whole family are now preparing themselves for membership in Saiva Siddhanta Church.

Innersearch postponed

Due to the horrific tragedies of September 11th, Himalayan Academy has indefinitely postponed the Canadian Innersearch scheduled to leave next July. Please be assured, we will re-schedule the Innersearch, but only when the present insecurity around the world settles down. Until then, if you are planning to go on a future Innersearch program, continue to set aside a little income each month in a special fund.
