Living with Cats

Here is a short but sweet (and funny!!) answer to a unique question, "Why does the monastery keep cats?" Listen in for a laugh!

Unedited Transcript:

Well, this is a very interesting question. "Why does the monastery, this monastery, keep cats? And, do cats help with self-realisation? Is it for some religious purpose?"

Well, there is a very simple answer to this question. If we didn't keep cats, we'd be keeping rats!

We live in a jungle. There are sugarcane fields that surround us. (And)Stray cats and rats by the thousands, surround us. But for keeping 15 or 20 cats, we are not invaded in our buildings with a hundred or so, rats. (And,)For that, it is an uplifting spiritual experience. Meoow! *laughs*

*A MEEEOOW in response ... more laughter!*
