Professional Procrastinators

Today Gurudeva talks about procrastination. "Are you a professional procrastinator?" he asks. If not, then you are probably a more spiritual person. If so, then you need to learn to get over procrastination by getting things done quickly.

Today at Kauai Aadheenam. March 20.

Welcome everybody, to cyberspace ashram! We are so happy that you clicked in to us, it is really wonderful to be with you, to enjoy each other today.

This morning I was talking to all the mathavasis here, about dispatching your duties quickly. Mathavasi means monk.

Procrastination is very heavy on the inner mind. When we procrastinate, though we might think we are working fast, we are slowing down and slowing down and slowing down, barely moving. This means that the mind is not functioning at the speed it should function for a positive, productive life. Therefore, we want to dispatch our duties quickly and not procrastinate. Procrastination is not good for spiritual life.

There are many people in the world today, maybe some of you who are listening now, who are professional procrastinators. Are you a professional procrastinator? If you are not, then you are more spiritual than the professional procrastinators.

How do you get over procrastinating? Dispatch your duties quickly. If you spill something, wipe it up quickly. Don't leave it for someone else to wipe up in an hour or two. If you drop something, pick it up and put it back in its place. Don't let scatter on your desk or in your home. It will become a weight on your mind. You will be thinking, "Well, I will do it someday. Some day, I will catch up and be totally current with all my duties and responsibilities."

Those are not good thoughts to have because those kinds of thoughts penetrate the sub-conscious mind, in really very strange group of shapes and colors if you could look at it in the astral plane. (and) [They] block your intuition, block your still, small voice, block your light of the mind.

So, for spiritual life, procrastination is one big no-no. One big no-no! Get over it. You can. If you are a professional procrastinator, you can change your mode of operation, your MO, today. Just don't do it anymore. Dispatch your duties quickly.

That is what we were talking to our mathavasis here at Kauai Aadheenam, early this morning after our morning meditation. We thought we would share just a little bit of it with you. We hope you enjoyed it.

Aum Namah Sivaya!
