Sacraments, Scripture, Death

Gurudeva continues his discussion of sacraments, which are a ceremony in honor of you, he says, in all religions. They impress the subconscious mind in a powerful way. Everyone looks forward to a birthday party, he explains, and similarly, the many sacraments of Hinduism, throughout life at all stages, for children and adults, should not be missed, for that would be a let-down. Gurudeva discusses the sacrament of the great transition called death.

To the Hindu the ground is sacred. The rivers are sacred. The sky is sacred. The sun is sacred. His wife is a Goddess. Her husband is a God. Their children are devas. Their home is a shrine.
