As Brahmā, Śiva creates. As Vishṇu, He sustains. As Rudra, He draws all back to Himself. Here Śiva, as Trimūrti, guides the reincarnation process as a soul is embodied, grows to manhood, then declines into old age and death, to be reborn again to experience the world and evolve.§
