“The Self, you can’t explain it,” Gurudeva tells us. Here Śiva Himself is contemplating the timeless, formless Truth, symbolized by swirling cosmic forces. He is seated beneath the noble banyan tree on the brink of the Absolute, in the pose of the Silent Teacher, Dakshiṇāmūrti.§
