Very special dreams come from the Gods, and are more akin to visions. During sleep, a devotee sees Śiva, Pati, approaching, His raised hand holding a fetter, pāśa, with which He binds the soul, paśu, symbolized in Śaiva Siddhānta by the white bull, Nandi.§
