Here he is with Sannyasin Saravananathaswami who is the Ekadanta Kulam talaivar, responsible for all communications with members, students and for the development of the Himalayan Academy Study program and coordinating Bodhinatha's mission events with members around the world.
Today we feature the outstanding work of our Siddhidata Kulam. Among their many areas of service, which includes overseeing the construction of Iraivan Temple, all vehicle, building, grounds and equipment maintenance, they have also been tirelessly developing the Anna Purna garden with bio-intensive mounds that are now producing an incredible array of fresh food. Sadhaka Nilakantha on the left and Sadhaka Adinatha on the right with today's harvest.
Here we have papayas, collard greens, kale, chinese cabbage, leaks, purple egg plant and white egg plant. Some of us have only seen purple egg plants in this lifetime and we always wondered why they called it an egg plant... well, when you see the white egg plant you know why... they look just like eggs!
Congratulations to the Siddhidata team for this wonderful addition to the daily fare. It saves a lot of money and also means we can be sure it's not chemically grown food.
We are only about 2-3 days away from shipping the files for Dancing with Siva off to Malaysia. Here are more samples of art from the new book. These are all taken from the beautiful lifetime collection by S. Rajam. This one depicts the inner temple within the lotus of the heart. The practice of mental visualization of worship can be done in meditation and is a powerful way to connect to the inner worlds. Try it: sit in meditation and visualize doing and arati to Lord Ganesha, then to Lord Muruga, then to Lord Nataraja and then to Bodhinatha, Gurudeva and Yogaswami. The results are like the proverbial taste of sweetness... unexplainable, known only to those who have tried it.
One of the oft-quoted stories of South Indian Saivite culture is the grace of Lord Siva coming to the devotee in the classic vision of Lord Siva riding on Nandi. After acts of great devotion and penance, invoking the presence of God, Siva decides the time has come and presents himself to he beloved devotees.
Many are the acts of chariya, kriya and yoga that are described that will eventually get Siva's attention. Invariably they involve acts of great selflessness and service in the name of Siva.
