Bodhinatha giving his Sun One talk. He gets up early in the morning and spends quite a bit of time in preparing for his discourses. They are rich, to the point and easily integrated into one's practice and thinking. He uses the Master Course and other texts that Gurudeva wrote as the launching points for these talks.

Sannyasin Natarajnathaswami on vigil this afternoon from 3pm to 6 pm. Today's class with Thambynathan Shailesh is Shum Chanting.
Shubha and Sridhar from Rochester, New York. Came to know about our monastery from the Rajarajeswari temple there.
The Kodimaram (Flag Pole) outside of Kadavul temple. This structure is covered in copper and the top points toward the inner sanctum of the temple. Mystically it is the outside pole of the force field. The opposite pole is in the inner sanctum, between them they contain the shakti and generate the force field. In this force field of the Hindu Temple, the beings of all Three Worlds can communicate.
Siva Yogaswami in his last days in Jaffna, Sri Lanka. Jai Kailasa Parampara!
Here is a picture from Trinidad where Gurudeva went on Caribbean Innersearch 2000. The next innersearch to India is shaping up well. We encourage you to join us, make plans early. Go to the Innersearch home page for details.
The Aadheenam is a wonderland of unusual shapes and forms. Outside Kadavul temple a plumeria tree stands bare in the cold winter (55 degree fahrenheit at night) and a coconut palm rises at an angle need the pool.
Sunset over Mount Waialeale. Other news:
- A student from Germany is coming on a pilgrimage soon.
- Tongans have started hauling rocks up Muruga Hill in preparation for a small mandapam there.
- We successfully planted several acres of Grotalaria Juncea on our Himalayan Acres property. It is used as a green manure crop which can put as much as 125 pounds of nitrogen and 5000 pounds of bio-mass back into the soil in just 60 days. We can also sell the seed to help defray expenses. It is in high demand by organic farmers and seed growers with impoverished soils.
- Sannyasin Saravananathaswami has been taking vow renewals by phone for several of our young Aspirants in other countries.
- Bodhinatha's trip to Malaysia is shaping up well. Click here for details

Title: Kundalini Yoga
Category: Meditation and Yoga
Duration: 5 min., 52 seconds
Date Given: January 15, 1999
Today at Kauai Aadheenam, January 15th.
This is the last day of our lunar phase. Tomorrow and the next day, we won't be with you. Ashram is closed, even in cyberspace. All the mathavasis are on retreat reflecting on what they did the last five days and what they are going to do the next five or six days and on into the future because we create our future by our thoughts. Our willpower puts energy into our thoughts which makes a plan and then we manifest the plan through action.
We have a new mathavasi that is arriving from Malaysia, Chundadevan. He has been living and serving at the Divine Life Society. The wonderful Swami Guhabhaktananda. Guhabhaktananda in 'Hinduism Today' is giving his 'Minister's Message' and Chundadevan is bringing his message along with his signature and picture to complete that beautiful page. He is truly a wonderful soul, having given Chundadevan basic training in how to perform sadhana and how to relate to others within the monastery in Malaysia.
We have a question from California. "Give me the esoteric meaning of Kundalini Yoga. We don't find 'Kundalini Yoga' in the lexicon of 'Dancing with Siva'."
Well, we do have the word Kundalini well explained in the lexicon. There are two words to be taken into consideration here. One is Yoga', which is union with the Divine and the other is bhoga, which is union with sensual pleasure. The Kundalini plays a vital part in both. They say, "You can't burn the candle at both ends." But some people try to and there are many Kundalini Yoga schools that teach you how to burn the candle at both ends, believe or not, and charge mega bucks!
The primordial energy in every individual, which at first lies coiled like a serpent at the base of the spine, eventually through the practice of yoga, rises up through the sushumna nadi. That sushumna nadi is in the center of the spine. Now often the Kundalini does not rise up through the sushumna nadi but through the sympathetic nerve system and creates a person to being very emotional. When they meditate, they jerk their body. No enlightenment comes. Really, no peace of mind either. These are potential bhogis. The kundalini can be easily sent down from here to the chakras below the muludhara chakra into sensual pleasures. When the sensual pleasures are over, anger, jealousy and the lower nature is found to have been awakened. It is very difficult to get out of this lower nature because the chakras down in the netherworlds spin in opposite direction than those above the muladhara.
Now I am talking to knowledgeable people who have studied the esoterics of yoga philosophy. I see some newcomers out there, who just tuned into Kauai Aadheenam, Cyberspace Ashram. So, bear with me. You might not understand everything but get a copy of 'Dancing with Siva, Hinduism's Contemporary Catechism'. Read it several times. That will give you a foundation of inner knowing so you will understand what I am talking about, if you want to keep coming to the ashram. We must remember that this cyberspace program on the internet is for a well-established congregation of Saiva Siddhanta Church and the student body of Himalayan Academy that live in many countries of the world but visitors are welcome. We hope that you will tune in day after day after day because we speak on many different subjects and you have the opportunity to ask questions like the one that just came from southern California. I hope I explained it adequately well. We can discuss it later; if not, ask another question and we will continue the dialogue.
Yoga is divine union with Siva. Bhoga is temporary union with passion, sensuality, and anger and jealousy and fear and everything contained within the lower nature. It is only temporary because eventually you get out of it, usually through reincarnation.
Well, thank you for tuning in today and the day after tomorrow and the day following that. That is three days from now. We will be back. Our doors will be open on Cyberspace Ashram. We will talk on many wonderful things.
