Gurudeva's Statement -- Attack on America
"Who bids the sun to move? Who makes the moon resplendent? Who impels the stars to twinkle? Who directs the force of sunshine? Who illumines the eyes to see? Who animates the air to blow? Who stirs the waters to rise? Who inspires the wise to praise? Who rotates the earth? Who tends the flowers to blossom? Who inspires the legs to walk? Who steers the hands to work? Ponder deeply and you'll discern that Siva's Will reigns supreme. "

We recently made a great discovery on an old reel-to-reel tape of Gurudeva's original audio talk of the "Self-God," a live inspired talk given in December of 1959. We have been burning audio CD's here and some of the young people in the pilgrim group are helping to label these.
Today we were blessed with a beautiful clear, dry day. It is always so magical to watch as the sun rising behind us in the East, as it parts the darkness on the west side of the valley of the Wailua River. In the distance the Iraivan Temple, once a vision, starting to take manifest shape beyond the "flag of Hindutva."
A small water fall in the river below us. One of the wonderful sadhanas that Gurudeva encourages everyone to do is "Ganga Sadhana" which can be done anywhere by sitting near a river, ideally where the water is flowing by rapidly. Take with you a small basket with leaves and flowers, separated. Sit quietly on a rock by the river. Listen carefully to the sound of the water and hear there in the sound of "Aum Namasivaya" as you contemplate the perfection of the universe as if flows to its ultimate destiny. Realize that the water does not complain as it comes upon a rock, but gently and easily moves on... realize that the rocks are not objecting to be hit by the water... as the mind sinks into this vision of peaceful dynamism, when a thought arises, from the past, any thought... take a leaf in the right hand, put the thought into the leaf. Then put the leaf in the river and let the river carry away the thought. Then take a flower and put the flower in the river and thank the river for taking away the thought. Do this over and over again, day after day, gradually the mind is cleansed and one is able to sit in perfect quietude and peace.
Gurudeva's spiritual center in the island country of Mauritius
in the Indian Ocean near South Africa
Devotees of Gurudeva usually meet regularly in the Saiva Dharmasala at La Pointe, for their formal meetings to discuss business of the Spiritual Park. Here a group of men has just been brainstorming ideas about the preparation of a special event at the Dharmasala.
Visitors bring all kinds of nice gifts to the Spiritual Park. A few happy ones even sponsor major construction or maintenance projects. Here we see an old friend of the Park who has brought us a rare plant. We can see but a few on the island. It's a cocoa plant that Mr. Raj Dayal is handing over to Kulapati Koothan. Mr. Dayal and his family have in the past been donating sacred bilva plants to the park. The leaves of the bilva or wood-apple tree are sacred to Lord Siva. Picked in threes, they are offered in the worship of the Sivalinga.
The Ganesha mandapam area is located in the middle of a mango grove. Mangoes are sacred to Lord Ganesha. The overly ripe fruits sometimes fall off the trees and are eaten by birds. When the trees are fully laden with these ripe fruits they a real good source of income to the Spiritual Park. This year due to the very dry season that hit the island, the harvest would be a moderate one.
Brahmachari Vel Mahalingum is staying at the Dharmasala for a few days and is very happy with his new life here in a very serene spiritual atmosphere. Many young men come to Gurudeva for the Task Force program or spiritual training that helps them better understand themselves and the world around and within them. This is a wonderful learning experience. Any young man wishing to know more about the Task Force program can kindly email their request to: gurudeva@hindu.org
The mango grove provides a cooling and soothing shade to visitors specially in summer. Children as well as adults love to sit and even enjoy a light snack in this area. The next time you come to the Spiritual Park, don't miss this quiet place where the only sweet nature music you can hear will be the birds chirping happily on the trees.

Title: The Five States of Mind
Category:
Duration: 4 min, 21 seconds
Date Given: September 01, 1998
Well, greetings everyone. This is September 1st. We welcome you to 'Today at Kauai Aadheenam'. I am seeing you through cyberspace as a beautiful soul. I cannot see your physical body. I do not know your intellect. But I do know your soul.
Your soul is perfect. Untainted, untarnished, perfect, with ultimate intelligence available through your physical brain at every point in time. Many people think that they are their physical body. Many people, most do, think that they are their mind and their emotions. But actually home base, we are the soul living in a physical body, using mind and emotions as tools.
There are five states of mind - the conscious mind, the subconscious mind, the sub of the subconscious mind, the superconscious mind and the sub of the superconscious mind. There is a lot of subs and supers! They are five states of mind and you will find those in our ancient Sanatana Dharma scriptures. They are all available to use each day, every day, as we walk the journey of life.
Today, Sri Sri Swamiji Pragyanand Maharaj is arriving at our Kauai Aadheenam, Kadavul Hindu Temple for a three-day visit. He is a wonderful Swami, doesn't eat a bite of food on airplanes when he travels, eats one large meal a day and that is it. We can live by his example, all of us. He has a multi-million dollar project progressing in his home village in India, near New Delhi, of schools, hospitals, training centers, padasalas. He is to be commended. A world-travelling swami, we have known him for many, many years. He is coming here to us on his birthday, his Jayanthi, to be celebrated day after tomorrow, six o'clock in the morning, a wonderful homa. All of our swamis will be chanting 'Sri Rudram'. We have over a dozen swamis here, yogis and sadhakas, who will be chanting and meditating. He will be blessed for another year of, we hope, historic progress in his work for the upliftment of the Hindu people in his home-town village in India.
We are very happy to be welcoming you to Kauai Aadheenam, today and we want to wish you a most wonderful day. You can move the forces of the world. Do it with love. Your soul is a being of love. Your soul is a being that has no preferences. So if you have a computer, think about trashing your preferences. That is supposed to be a joke! Trash your preferences, your personal likes and dislikes, because desire is a big force within each and everyone of us. We can send it up or we can send it down. Sometimes if it goes down, we think there is no retreating. But there is, evolution over many lives will bring it up again. We have the choice in this life to send the energy up into the top of our head, strengthening the intellect.
Again, have a wonderful day! You deserve it, you are the best.

Innersearch postponed
Due to the horrific tragedies of September 11th, Himalayan Academy has indefinitely postponed the Canadian Innersearch scheduled to leave next July. Please be assured, we will re-schedule the Innersearch, but only when the present insecurity around the world settles down. Until then, if you are planning to go on a future Innersearch program with Gurudeva, continue to set aside a little income each month in a special fund. |
