A cyberspace devotee heard that chakras need to be cleaned in order for the kundalini to work properly and wants to know what this process of cleaning the chakras is. Gurudeva says that the cleaning of the chakras is a new age concept and what is actually meant is that a cleaning of the subconscious mind is necessary. He also says that if a person wants to play with the kundalini and the chakras then the first thing to do is to get a good foundation by becoming a Hindu.

A cyberspace devotee called derek@goto.com asks, I have heard that chakras have to be cleared for the kundalini to work properly. What is the clearing of the chakras and do they get dirty?

The cleaning of the chakras is a New Age concept. What is actually meant is that the subconscious mind has to be cleared. That means all the emotions, all the memories of the past have to be reconciled.

The chakras are like the organs of the soul. The soul is absolutely perfect, untainted, untarnished. The Western way of looking at things is good and bad, heaven and hell, joy and sorrow, clean and dirty. The best that can happen is that the practitioner can adjust the human aura temporarily through healing hands and through mental methods.

If you want to put up a skyscraper, what is the first thing that you do? (Is to) Build a foundation. Therefore, if you want to play with the kundalini or the chakras, what is the first thing that you do? Become a Hindu. Have dedication, a foundation. Then you will no longer be on the outside looking in. You will be on the inside, participating with the higher forces in the proper way on a good solid foundation.

Many people these days - you should know, you have probably met many of them - wander on as if in a dream, totally committed to being non committed and play with words - chakras, kundalini, clean, dirty, auras. That is not accomplishment. That is just wandering on as in a dream. A building built on sand.
