Saivism North and South

Here's a short talk from Gurudeva about the differences between Saivism in the north of India as compared to the Saivism practiced in the South.

Unedited Transcript:

Cyberspace devotee from Klang, Malaysia, Wondering the difference

between Saivism in North of India and in the South of India.

South of India was not as affected by Islamic invasions and occupation

as was the North, therefore the Saivism in the South is more mature in

invoking the Gods and Goddesses of the inner world to come and bless the

people through their temples. Its emphasis is on Siddhanta whereas in

the North of India the emphasis is on Vedanta, more philosophical and

internal.

Siva's devotees accept all experiences, however difficult, as their self-created karma, without cringing or complaining. Theirs is the power of surrender, accepting what is as it is and dealing with it courageously. Aum.
