Noninjury, the Foremost Virtue

The Master Course - Satguru's Insights

Noninjury is the foremost virtue, the highest dharma or truth from which all dharma proceeds and the first ethical principle of Hinduism.Every indivdual must aim to avoid causing injury to others by one's action, thoughts or words. There are limited regrettable exceptions where harm may be caused (when facing imminent danger and it is absolutely necessary).Showering blessings in return, caring for animals and cultivating plants are useful ways to avoid retaliation, nurture compassion and uplift oneself. Belief in the law of karma and accepting the divinity of all beings are the twin pillars of ahimsa or nonviolence.

Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami presents topics relating to Himalayan Academy's Master Course study program.
