2013 Ganesha Chaturthi

This video covers the events of Kauai Aadheenam's August, 2013 Ganesha Chaturthi Abhishekam and visarjana.

Gaṇeśa Chaturthī is a joyous celebration of Gaṇeśa’s birthday. While elaborate temple pūjās are held during this festival, worship is also given in the home shrine to a clay image of Gaṇeśa that we make or obtain. At the end of the day we join together in a parade, called visarjana, to a river, temple tank, lake or seashore, where we immerse the image, symbolizing Gaṇeśa’s release into universal consciousness.

In practicing affectionate detachment, we are learning to live in the here and now, right in the moment. We are awakening the power of direct cognition, the power that enables us to understand what happens, when it happens and why it happens.
