"Being on the brink of Self Realization, having lost consciousness of the physical body and of being a mind, you are only conscious of a vast, bluish white light. You get into this through going into the clear white light and out through the other side of it."

Gurudeva

Gurudeva Darshan of the Day

Here is a classic Gurudeva photo: he honors a group of young dancers who had just performed for him on Guru Purnima.

What Happened Today at the Monastery?

We began the phase with homa this morning. Skanda Shashti is in progress and the Muruga shrine is the focus of attention for the morning pujas.

But first here is our second video from the Mahasamadhi puja. It is a short recording of the powerful aratis that follow the abhishekam and alankara (bathing and decoration) just before we began chanting Gurudeva's names...

Skanda Shashti at Kadavul Temple

This year Skanda Shasti began on the day after Mahasamadhi. Kumar Gurukkal was still here and performed the first Muruga abhishekam and did an amazing chandana alankara (decoration with sandal paste) one of the devotees who has returned home writes this testimony to Bodhinatha...

Aum Sivaya, Bodhinatha,

Jai Ganapati!

Thank you and all the monks for an incredible Gurudeva Mahasamadhi Observances, classes, meals, gifts, pujas and your wonderful humor. Your classes and keynote presentations on "The Power of Affirmation" were so clear and very much appreciated. And the Shum meditations really helped me with my visualizations.

A photo for you of Skanda Shashti puja. Transforming, exquisite and powerful. Mahalo nui loa for blessing all of us with Kumar Gurukkal for the homas and pujas. He performed so beautifully and precisely. The homa in Iraivan Temple was so inner and profound. Gurudeva was there as if we were there and in India at the same time.

I send you our love and pranams.

Aum Namasivaya,

Jai Muruga! Muruganathaswami was on vigil for the puja and using his iPhone took some rare close up shots of the Deity after Kumar Gurukkal and done the sandalwood alankara.

Tour Day at the Aadheenam

Today was this week's tour day, conducted by Kulapati and Kulamata Deva and Amala Seyon. Kauai has been working on its annual rainfall records. Yesterday we had a 7-inch down pour that was so thick that cars had to stop on the road until it passed.

Today the rain eased up, well, almost... Deva writes:

"What a group of positive, spirited souls! We waited and waited (for the rain to let up) and finally they said "lets go"! We were drenched in one purifying downpour after another. Their patience and interaction was so uplifting as we laughed and huddled together. Not one compliant! (a few missing in this photo are in the tent behind)"

Our Spiritual Park and Monastery on the Island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean

Gurudeva's Maha Samadhi anniversary was celebrated by the sishyas in Mauritius at the Ganesha Mandapam on Tuesday 28th. It was Divali Day and a public holiday in the island.

A nicely decorated peedham was set up ...

The 108 names of Gurudeva being chanted by all the sishyas...

Everyone having their mind on Gurudeva.

The ladies joined in to sing the Sivayogaswami's "Natchintanaii" dedicated to he Guru.

Gurudeva founded that place in 1986 and since then it has grown into a rare jewel in this part of the Indian Ocean.

All Mauritians are grateful to Gurudeva...

Some sishyas quietly absorbing the shakti at the back.

Aum Gurunatha Jaya Gurunatha!

Arati time... invoking Gurudeva to bless every sishya present...

Devotion is now deep and high...

Aum Sivaya Subramuniya Gurave Namah!

A key note on a few sayings of Gurudeva. Here Gurudeva in his youth.

Kulapati read a speech sent by Satguru Bodhinatha.

Kulapati SK Moorghen was the MC of the day.
