Siva Linga Symbology

A devotee writes to Gurudeva about his dismay over finding how some authors describe the Siva Linga as a phallic symbol. Gurudeva describes how the interpretation all depends upon where the consciousness of the author is, whether he sees Siva, or something else. Gurudeva also reminds the questioner of the importance of excercising discrimination and even caution in choosing what to read.

Most people try to experience God through other people. Disciples see a guru as God. Wives see their husband as God. Devotees see the Deity in the temple as God. But all the time, behind the eyes of their seeing, is God.
